On July 1st, representatives of CBEX – Romania Canada Business Association joined the Canada Day reception hosted by the Embassy of Canada to Romania, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova.

The event brought together government officials, ambassadors, business leaders, entrepreneurs and representatives of the Romanian–Canadian community, providing an excellent opportunity to strengthen existing relationships and develop new connections between the Canadian and Romanian business communities.

During the official ceremony, H.E. Gavin Buchan, Ambassador of Canada to Romania, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova, together with Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana-Silvia Țoiu, highlighted the excellent bilateral relationship between Canada and Romania and the growing importance of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Today, this partnership extends well beyond traditional trade and investment. Canada and Romania continue to deepen their cooperation in several strategic sectors, including:

• nuclear energy;
• defence and security;
• agriculture;
• mining;
• advanced technologies.

The recent Canada–EU SAFE agreement opens additional opportunities for Canadian companies to participate in European defence initiatives, while Romania continues to strengthen its role as an important regional partner in security, energy resilience and strategic industries.

Beyond business, Canada and Romania are connected through a vibrant Romanian community in Canada, longstanding institutional partnerships and a shared commitment to democratic values, innovation and international cooperation.

Events such as Canada Day provide an important platform for dialogue, networking and the development of long-term partnerships between companies, institutions and professionals from both countries.
