CBEX and Bitcoin Romania Bring the Business Community Together for a Dialogue on Cryptocurrencies and Financial Education
June 25 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

CBEX – Romania Canada Business Association, in partnership with Bitcoin Romania, recently hosted “Crypto Essentials: Understanding Cryptocurrencies & Networking”, an event dedicated to one of the most fascinating and debated topics in today’s financial landscape.
The event brought together members of the CBEX community, business leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals interested in understanding how cryptocurrencies work, their role in modern investment strategies and the broader implications of blockchain technology.
The purpose of the event was not to promote investment in cryptocurrencies, but rather to encourage informed decision-making and financial education.
As highlighted during the discussions, cryptocurrencies are increasingly being considered as part of a diversified investment portfolio by some investors and financial advisors. However, any investment decision should be based on a proper understanding of the asset class and on individual risk appetite, rather than on trust in someone else’s knowledge or recommendations.
The session also explored several fascinating facts about Bitcoin and its history:
- There will only ever be 21 million Bitcoins in existence.
- Bitcoin was built as an open-source technology, allowing its code to be publicly audited and continuously improved by its global community.
- The world’s first Bitcoin ATM was installed in Canada in October 2013.
- The first Bitcoin ATM in Europe was installed in Bucharest in March 2014 by Constantin Rotariu, today a member of CBEX and one of the pioneers of the Romanian crypto ecosystem.
- After discovering Bitcoin while working in technology in Canada, Constantin returned to Romania and later founded Bitcoin Romania, one of the leading cryptocurrency platforms in the country.
- Today, a growing number of publicly listed companies hold significant cash reserves in Bitcoin as part of their treasury strategy.
- El Salvador became the first country in the world to recognize Bitcoin as legal tender.
Beyond cryptocurrencies themselves, the event served as an opportunity to reflect on a broader reality: financial markets, technologies and investment instruments are evolving rapidly, and continuous learning has become essential for business leaders and investors alike.
The evening also provided valuable networking opportunities, bringing together professionals from different industries and creating new connections within the growing CBEX community.
CBEX would like to thank Bitcoin Romania, Constantin Rotariu and the entire team for their warm hospitality and for sharing their expertise with our members and guests.
At CanCham Romania, we believe our role goes beyond organizing events. We aim to create meaningful conversations, facilitate knowledge sharing and build a community that is curious, informed and ready to navigate the opportunities and challenges of an increasingly complex world.
